Welcome to the new look Build Threads. Please bookmark this new URL, and if you’re nice enough to have me in your blogroll, please take the time to update the link.
I was planning to work on the appearance of the new blog behind the scenes, and debut it looking all nice and polished once it was ready. But I was running out of time, and I didn’t want to keep putting out new posts on the old one while I worked on this one at the same time. So I’ve modified the old header and thrown it up top, and everything else is pretty much a standard theme. This will all change soon though, as I’m planning on making some small changes to make it more unique.
Therefore, you will all witness the evolution of this new site as it happens, which I think in the end is rather fitting, as this is Build Threads after all, and we all love the journey much more than the destination.
I’ll have a new build thread up for you guys in the next couple of days. Hope you enjoy the new look as it gets hammered, riveted, sanded, painted, and polished into shape.
Well congratulations on the new website, im really liking the new desing. Keep up with the great work!
Congrats on the new site. Looking great so far.
If I could offer one suggestion/request? Could you please set up your RSS feed to send out the complete articles? Previously, it was only sending out the first paragraph. Some of us don’t always have time to jump from site to site when that happens. We end up skipping the post.
Now that I’m here, I’m gonna check out a couple of the recent posts, but I thought I would mention the idea, as it makes sure you have every opportunity to draw people in to comment.
Cheers.
Lookin good man! I will be sure to update.
FYI you can change your lines from /?P=1728 to actual words in the admin panel better seo.
Epic!
Good luck!
New site looks great Anth. BTW, I was just looking through all the pages and it doesn’t look like your submissions page is working properly. I’m sure you already knew but on the off chance you didn’t….
Hey Brian, thanks for the feedback. In my settings I’ve got “For each article in a feed, show [full text]” The other option I can tick instead of full-text is [summary]. That should do it, yeah? I’m not too sure.
Hi great look to the revamp of the website. Ive added you to my list of blogs that I follow as you have the interesting trwist of Garage build threads as well as car build threads. And who does not enjoy a build thread.
Best build thread I ever read was the Gatebil Taxi V8 Volvo XC90. I’ll have to post on my blog my build thread of my camouflaged wrapped Peugeot 206 I did in 2007.
Keep up the good work.
i just caught this site while looking at speedhunters and i really like the builds i’ve looked at so far. i’m curious though, what does it take to get a build put up on your site? are you looking for specific things like a make/model does it matter? i’m not going with anything crazy but i think it’s neat to show people what i’m up to… and that i can do my own work.
Hi Jason, thanks for the kind words, if you’ve just found the site then you have a lot of posts to get through! I don’t look for any specific types of cars for features, I think the build speaks louder than the badge, and I love to feature a bit of variety. If you have a build with plenty of progress, nice step-by-step pictures, and well-written narratives, send me a link 🙂
