Mach 40 Mustang/GT

Buried inside one of the many great 2012 SEMA posts on Speedhunters was this highly customised Ford Mustang, a car that some might dismiss at first glance. Actually, calling it a Mustang is probably a bit of a stretch, because this extreme 1-off build is actually based on a rear-engined 2006 Ford GT, with the appearance of a lower and longer ’69 Mach 1. While there isn’t a build thread as such, you can still head to the bottom of the post to see hundreds of photos of the build process on the creator’s own website, Eckert’s Rod & Custom.

  1. Man, props to Geoff for the photos and Eckert’s for the work! I’ve seen a few GTs around used car dealers in nj where I live (mostly intact) but some def. need some love like this one had. Thanks for the post!

  2. I can’t believe why this thing isn’t on the cover of every magazine everywhere! I can’t believe the craftsmanship in this thing! I went through all the pics on their website and then scooped my jaw off the floor. I literally can only type now that my jaw will not close to speak. INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Now if only Ford would do something like this. The perfect combination of my two favourite cars of all time. I can’t believe I haven’t seen this before. Incredible work and craftsmanship. Beautiful.
