Build Update: Saab 96/9-3

I just received an email from Nicholas from Neo Brothers in the UK letting me know that their Saab 96/9-3 mash-up project is complete. I have since updated the original post with some new images and links to the build galleries. If you remember this build, now’s your chance to see it complete. If you haven’t, well then consider yourself lucky because you have a brand new build to devour!

Saab 96 / Mazda MX5

I remember back in 2011 when I posted a certain chassis swap build, I commented on how long it had been since the last one was featured on the site. Well it sure doesn’t seem like we have that problem any more, because it feels like almost every second build is a chassis swap! If you’re having dejavu at the title of this one, that’s because I’ve already featured a similar project in the past. It seems the humble Mazda roadster is quite a popular donor for these types of builds. The more the merrier I say!

Saab 96/9-3

It’s time for another chassis-swap build, and this time the donor car and recipient are both Saabs. The builders are combining the classic shell of a Saab 96 with the modern underpinnings of a Saab 9-3, with the goal of creating a little unassuming Swedish track tearer.

Thanks to James from Car Throttle for submitting.

Update: This build is now complete, I have added new images and links at the bottom of the post.

Saab 93 + Viper V10

Not a day goes by that I’m not grateful for the crazy people out there who are willing to tackle insane driveline swaps. I mean seriously, at what point in your life do you sit there and think to yourself “You know what, I think I’m going to put a Viper V10 into a Saab 93 wagon?”. Pure insanity, I love it.

Saab 99 Quattro

Sorry guys, I know I’ve been down on content lately, it’s a crazy time of year. But don’t worry, I’ve still got heaps of tasty builds lined up, so keep the faith!

James, the editor of Car Throttle & owner of Saab Snaab emailed me this crazy Saab 99 build and told me a little bit about it. It’s received an updated version of its original B202T engine from a later model Saab 900, which has been rotated 180 degrees to enable it to mate to an Audi Quattro AWD drivetrain from a C4 generation Audi 100…those crazy Swedes! You can check out James’ article on the car here.

Just as I was writing the above paragraph I was checking out Speedhunters when I saw this article detailing Saab’s demise, what a sad coincidence.
