What I’m Watching: Jimbo’s Garage

In my never ending quest to replace traditional television with YouTube, I stumbled across this new channel thanks to The Garage Journal forums. It’s called Jimbo’s Garage, and it’s all about, you guessed it, Jimbo’s Garage! Jimbo is the owner of a construction company who has quite the home shop setup going on. His channel has everything from additions and renovations to the garage, tool reviews, and even a little Honda 600 project that he unearths after 10 years in storage. Check it out, you might get some ideas for your own garage, I know I have.

What I’m Watching: Jay’s Restorations in Progress v2

Back in December I made a What I’m Watching post about Jay Leno’s Garage and their projects that were currently in-progress. It was a great opportunity to see what goes on behind the scenes at Big Dog Garage, and catch a glimpse of the cars in various states of undress, learning interesting tidbits about them along the way. Well it appears this could be a regular thing, as His Holy Denimness has just released another one of these interesting videos.

Project Thunderbolt LS3 Miata [video build]

If you’ve been following my “What I’m Watching” series, you would have seen me post about Tom’s Turbo Garage on more than one occasion, including this very project I’m about to share with you again. What can I say? I love Tom’s work, his videos are enjoyable, informative, and funny, not to mention he’s great at wrenching on a plethora of projects in his amazing home garage. His latest project, Project Thunderbolt, sees him installing an LS3 V8 into an NB Mazda Miata/Mx5. Even though I’ve posted about this before, I wanted to do a proper on-going entry about this car, where I’ll edit and post new videos as they’re released, much like Project Binky (which I’m gagging for an update on!) Tom is releasing new videos every two weeks, so you don’t have to wait very long to get your fill.

Check out V8Mazda.com for more information about the project.

What I’m Watching: Hackaweek TV

Do you dis-like short, fluffy videos that are low on content and high on hype? Sick of slow motion panning shots of ran drizzling over glossy panels? Are you just crying out for highly technical videos that explain every tidbit of mechanical symphony? Well then let me introduce you to Hackaweek TV! While there are many projects going on in the Hackaweek stable – including robotics, carpentry and electronics – what I’m most interested in is the CB750 Cafe Racer build. Most of the videos (18 so far) are somewhere between 15 minutes and half an hour, so you’d be wise to grab a hot or cold drink (depending on where you are in the world) and get comfortable while you peruse the playlists.

What I’m Watching: TTG Project Thunderbolt

If you’ve been following my What I’m Watching series since the beginning, you would have already seen me post about Tom’s Turbo Garage once before. Still, I thought I should inform you about his latest project, and one that I’m very excited about, Project Thunderbolt! Tom has bought himself a Mazdaspeed NB MX5/Miata and is planning to drop an LS3 V8 engine inside. New videos are due to be released every two weeks, and I just know it’ll be as detailed, humourous and of high quality as his other projects.

What I’m Watching: James Glickenhaus Garage

Car collector, Pinninfarina collaborator, and now manufacturer. James Glickenhaus is a man we can all aspire to be, someone who has made enough money to last a life time, and chooses to spend that money building and racing bespoke vehicles. This video gives us a great insight into his history, present, and future.

What I’m Watching: Jay’s Restorations in Progress

Aside from the many guests Jay has on his show, Jay Leno’s Garage, he also has a plethora of vehicles in various states of restoration. This ~22min video showcases some of the unfinished projects in the shop, perfect for people like us who want to see the bare bones more than the finished product.
