F20C TA22

As far as cross breeding goes, I’d say this is pretty subtle. An F20C 2.0L from a Honda S2000 gets transplanted into a 1973 TA22 Toyota Celica. That classic Japanese shape reflects the golden years of JDM styling, while the contemporary heart hailing from a different manufacturer – yet the same country of origin – showcases just how far 4cylinder technology has developed. The owner has managed to capture the best of both worlds, old and new, without going so far as to make a Frankenstein out of the car.

TA22 2JZ

Karey emailed me his tough as nails TA22 Celica, powered by one of Toyota’s best, the mighty 2JZ. Built in true drag racing fashion, it features all the trademarks of a straight-line racer, like a tubbed rear end with 4-link, Weld Racing wheels, and a Ford 9″ diff, textbook stuff. It looks like the car is almost ready for paint, so hopefully some extra attention from Build Threads readers will push Karey to get it in the booth!

With so many older Japanese cars concentrating maintaining the nostalgic JDM look, it’s refreshing to see a return to the quarter mile style that was so popular in the 90s & early 2000s.

Bosozoku TA22 Celica

I’ve been trying to only feature build threads from forums that don’t require you to be a registered member to view them, however I knew eventually I would come across something that needed to be featured, regardless of the forums rules from which it came. This is one of those cars.

Over on the Auszoku forums, a tasty little TA22 Celica has quietly been built up by its owner in Bosozoku style. What makes this car so impressive is that it resides in Sydney, Australia. I would love to see this thing rolling down the street pushing its way through a sea of rep-mobiles and bland SUV’s, what a site that would be.
