English Garage

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a garage build, so here’s one that is a bit more realistic for the majority of us. Dan emailed me his photo-documented garage build not long ago, and you can tell he’s proud as punch of the outcome, and wouldn’t he be? Every car nut dreams of having their own space to work on their project(s), and Dan has achieved that with a house-quality multiple car dwelling located at the rear of his block for maximum privacy. It’s just begging for a ground-up rebuild to take place inside.

You know Chris Forsberg? Nos Energy Drink sponsored Formula D 2009 Champion & Drift Alliance member? Well, what happens when he builds a racing simulator to the same layout specifications as his 350Z drift car? Come and take a look…

Home-made Batman Tumbler

From the mecca of cool car content, Jalopnik, comes this epic build of a Batman Tumbler replica by an enthusiastic Aussie (who else!).

Click here to head to the Jalopnik article to find out more about the project. The link to the build blog is at the end of their article, it’s labeled [PS-Car] in case you miss it. When you head to the blog, it’s translated from Japanese to English (strange), so you’ll have to click on “to report the following” at the bottom of the page to navigate to the next entry. Hope that helps! Enjoy…

Project PT-57 Chevy Truck

Okay, I’ve waited long enough and I’ve made an executive decision. I’ve been watching this build for a while, waiting for it to be finished but I can’t wait any longer. It’s going to be debuted at the upcoming SEMA show, where I’m sure it will be photographed by numerous websites, so I wanted to show it to you guys first. Just take a look at the Solid Works renderings of the parts built for the project and you’ll see why I’m such a fan of this build. I wonder if the people who built cars at the factories back in the 50/60s/70s would ever dream they’d be getting this much love in the new millennium. We have the pro-touring crowd to thank for that (and their deep pockets!)

Some quick stats:
LQ4 6.0L V8, 4L80E transmission, custom chassis, air-ride, C4 Corvette suspension, rear mount twin turbo, C6 Z06 Corvette brakes.

BOWLS Scion xB Tuner Challenge

BOWLS LA, the lifestyle boutique and Honda Ruckus/Zoomer specialists hailing from San Marino, California, have been chosen by Scion to participate in the 2009 Tuner Challenge. Competing against two other teams, BOWLS are converting an xB into a 70’s SOCAL styled pickup with a matching Ruckus residing in the tray. All three projects are going to be unveiled at the upcoming ’09 SEMA show, with the winners taking home a tasty $10,000. Anyone wanna front me a plane ticket and accommodation for some exclusive Build Threads coverage? Haha, didn’t think so.

Check out the slick rending BOWLS have released, along with their equally impressive video showcasing the start of the fabrication work. To read the Tuner Challenge press-release from Scion, click here.

BMW E46 318i to M3 Conversion

Okay, back to business, new content!

Thanks to Phil from Phils Car Blog for submitting this build. The owner takes his unassuming 4 door E46 318i sedan and stuffs it full of angry M3 goodness. Although it might seem at first that bolt-on items such as bumpers, lights, and panels would be subject to a simple swap-over, it turns out to be quite difficult when small physical differences become apparent. Come and see the owner document the OEM quality transformation from the ground, up.
